a drive through game park

this was on our way to the beach

we drove our own car through the game park!

so at some point, i'm not sure why,

but we started talking in a Brittish accent...

that lasted for about 4 hours, and kept popping

in and out of the rest of the trip.

I was Florence/Jeffries

Sus was Matilda

it was probably the hardest we have both laughed in our entire lives.

then as sus was driving, she SLAMS on the brakes

then reverses

i still don't know what is going on.

yup, an elephant about 15 feet away.

we turn off the car and just watch him eat.

there are all these signs that say not to get out of the car.

so we are just kinda hanging out of it, to get a better view.

then i get the great idea to get on top of the car.

to get better pics of course.

later sus tells me, if it started chasing us, she was just gonna go.

but i said, well i woulda just held onto the roof and made her go.

at this point we were kinda freaking out to get out of the park before it closed.

for some reason, we just knew we would get locked in.

we were on our way to a hostel with a kitchen

and were so excited to be able to cook later.

we ended up making it, after it being sooo dark, lots of traffic, no batteries or airtime on sus's phone, and scary people at the gas station.

-

out hostal had a full bar that you just wrote down what you got and they added it onto your bill. the couple was super nice. the room was great, with a shower and TUB!

the guide said we could walk up to the fence.

what is the use of the fence?

i have no idea.

i knowwww it's not keeping me safe.

oh ya know, just taking a few pics with rhinos... no biggie.

as sus was taking my pic, she said that the rhino

that was farthest away in the last pic was walking towards me.

the guide said to just stay still.

"oh crap"

i think she just wants her picture taken.

i am from Colorado you know.

so, sus and i said our goodbyes to

her family and chris.

I DROVE!!!

we drove to matata for groceries

and to meet up with ali for lunch

we ended up running into another friend too!

-

we said bye to them also and headed to the game park

only about 1 hour away.

we were really excited!!!

-

these pics are out of order,

but this was our plan:

1: arrive

2: follow open topped jeep in our rental to drop off point

3: (we had to change from dresses - required on site for sus and i)

4: drink some juice...? sign in, put bags in open topped jeep

5: we were with 2 other couples... i know, weird.

6: get an evening drive through the park on the way to where we would eat dinner and sleep

7: see cool stuff

8: eat dinner, shower, sleep

9: wake up to "room" service coffee

10: morning drive through park

11: breakfast

12: ride jeep back to drop off point

13: follow jeep out

14: on way, see amaaaaaazing animals up close and personal (see next post)

15: drive to beach.

coffee at work and to stretch our legs.

then made it to Plano with a couple hours to spare.

we headed to the rehearsal & dinner in Ft. Worth

high on 3 red bulls and coffee...

we had a great time with friends

and were so happy to see the cannon family!

then saturday we woke up and drove to ft worth again

the ceremony was beautiful

in a lovely catholic church

then we headed to the reception

it was so much fun
