more befores, some afters, and a door

long long story short...

cameron was putting in a new door handle and lock

and the old door literally was falling apart.

we knew we had to get a new door. stat.

which sucks...

because of course

we have a weird sized door.

and all places say it will take anywhere from 3 weeks-3 months to get a door.

that is no good people.

enter THE DOOR STORE.

yes that is a place. in denver. 2 miles from our house.

praise God we wheeled and dealed.

we got the floor model of a door that i thought was simple

but beautiful, and we got a discount, and they could

carve out the spots for the lock and handle.

longer story short.

it didn't fit.

we didn't have a door for 3 days (we had the screen door).

the people came and fixed us and didn't charge us.

and it's pretty.

i did stain it, but i will have to find that pic later.

solid mahogony.

dad would be proud.

he came to fix our bathroom

the cold water wasn't coming out at all thru the shower.

fixing this involved cutting a HUGE hole in hazel's room...

the paint was literally not even dry.

 holes where new fixtures will go

 the hole.

it's still there,

6 months later.

don't worry it's covered up.

this is the living room before

for some reason, they had 4 different colors in here...

and it was all FLAT paint...

so as long as you don't touch the walls, you're fine.

and that in the left of the pic below is our old door.

seem to be original ....they are kinda leaded

with diamond shapes patterned in.

so, yes,

i am 100 years behind in blogging...

and i have decided i needed to keep it up,

thanks to my cuz lolo...

she prints her blogs yearly into a book, and then never has

to worry about any other form of journaling.

so, i followed suit.

i am now catching up for 2012, and then will start 2013.

 why are there so many layers of wallpaper?

 below is the closet, which i thought had no light,

until one day (after living there for 3-4 mo) i realized it was

this fancy light that was triggered to turn on when the door opened!

now before shots of hazel's room

she has this fantastic garden window that opens up from the top!

that ghetto swamp cooler in the window is long gone :)

 below is her teeny tiny closet. with no door.

 so looking out that door you can see the kitchen/living room

 the paint colors i chose.

 you can't really see, but this is the front window

and i have taped it off to paint the trim.

i will have to search for after pics... or take some.

 yes, she found this tin of lotion and put it EVERYWHERE....

i was getting ready,

and i look down,

and hazel had all my (rarely used) makeup brushes

she was brushing it on herself...

seems not too bad right?

but there is lipstick on the brush still and it was all over her face!

 then later, she was playing with her nurse kit

from lili and poppy!

 and every nurse wears an apron right?

gotta love that crazy kiddo
