100% whole wheat

1. mixer
2. loaf pan
3. wheat flakes
4. flax seeds
5. evoo

yes, it's lop-sided, i don't know how.
i greased the pan, but it got stuck.

so so so so tastey!
i will slice it into sandwich style slices later.

2 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast, or 1 packet active dry yeast dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
1 1/3 cups (10 1/2 ounces) water
1/4 cup (1 3/4 ounces) vegetable oil (I used evoo)
1/4 cup (3 ounces) honey, molasses, or maple syrup
3 1/2 cups (14 ounces) King Arthur Traditional Whole Wheat Flour
1/4 cup (1 ounce) nonfat dried milk
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
( I added the flax seeds and oats)
Mixing: In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients and stir till the dough starts to leave the sides of the bowl. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased surface, oil your hands, and knead it for 6 to 8 minutes, or until it begins to become smooth and supple. (You may also knead this dough in an electric mixer or food processor, or in a bread machine programmed for "dough" or "manual.") Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover the bowl, and allow the dough to rise till puffy though not necessarily doubled in bulk, about 60 minutes, depending on the warmth of your kitchen.
Shaping: Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled work surface, and shape it into an 8-inch log. Place the log in a lightly greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan, cover the pan loosely with lightly greased plastic wrap, and allow the bread to rise for about 1 hour, or until it's crowned about 1 inch above the edge of the pan. A finger pressed into the dough should leave a mark that rebounds slowly.
Baking: Bake the bread in a preheated 350°F oven for about 40 minutes, tenting it lightly with aluminum foil after 20 minutes. Test it for doneness by removing it from the pan and thumping it on the bottom (it should sound hollow), or measuring its interior temperature with an instant-read thermometer (it should register 190°F at the center of the loaf). Remove the bread from the oven, and cool it on a wire rack before slicing. Store the bread in a plastic bag at room temperature. Yield: 1 loaf, 16 slices.

pangea

Pangea Organics

made in boulder, so local for me.
have a great philosophy.
make great products.
smell awesome.
on sale at whole foods right now for SUPER cheap.
i stocked up, b/c it's pretty pricey normally (for us).
all organic, fair trade, and even the boxes can be planted and they grow flowers or herbs.
love them.
i use the face cream, and bought the soap and lotion saturday, have used it twice and LOVE THEM.
the oatmeal and italian bergamot soap kicks butt!!!

casa bonita

Casa Bonita

this is where i went saturday night.
it's like a sleezy mexican chuckee cheese.
but there are cliff divers... just go to the site.
my friend wanted to go so bad, b/c she hadnt been since she was 8.
she brought a bottle of tums b/c the food is soooo awful.
you order, go thru a line, get to the food window, tell them what you ordered,
they pick up a plate from hundreds of pre-made plates.
you HAVE to order a meal if you are over 2 years old, and cannot order from the kids menu
unless you are 2-12.
the meals range from $11.99-$14.99.
then you walk yourself to a server, and he tells you where to sit.
so bad.
we played some ski ball, and won a hat and an alien with a parachute.
oh casa bonita.

snow in APRIL

so, it was supposed to snow last night, but it was just rain.

then sometime this morning it started snowing, but it wasnt sticking to the ground.

then... later at work, like maybe 1:00pm, it was like crazy man snow.

so it's been 2-3 hours with the snow, and they say it will be like 12-24" over night.

CRAZY!

*of course now that i have posted the video, it started coming down like mad again... well, you get the idea. think coming own as hard as rain, but it's snow.

lots of things this week

yesterday for dinner i made homemade pear/goatcheese pizza!!!

this was the "before" it went into the oven
i also have a new trick from julie,
i dont like hardboled eggs, but if you use a cheese grater,
grate them up, then put them on a salad,
you can kinda taste em but not really,
and still get all the protein.
so i grated these, then put them on a salad!

i tried and tried to take pics of the rash for you all,
but this was the best shot i got.
little red itchy bumps.
benadryl spray has helped, and i feel like it may be getting a bit better, but i still itch.
this pic is my knee by the way.

Homemade Peanut Butter

1. buy large can peanuts at Costco
2. have loacl honey from store
3. need food processor or good blender
4. we used olive oil for our oil
1. put peanuts in thingy
2. add in honey
3. start to blend, adding in oil as it goes
4. scrape the sides
5. keep blending to the consistency you want

recycle your old PB jar :)
our PB is kinda chunky... i was too lazy to make it any smoother

FOR BETHANY

for bethany's bday, i made her this journal thingy.
i let her pick the fabric out from our local fabric store
and then i just made it.

rash

i think i am allergic to this new cheapo (trying to save money) laundry detergent i got.
it took me like 4 days to realize they weren't bug bites or something (yes i know, i am a nurse...).
anyways, i have re-washed almost everything i can think of in a new new detergent..
it's costco's enviro friendly 110 washes for $14 (which i think is such a good deal... seventh gen).
but i normally use all free and clear. we'll see. i just hope i didnt waste $14 on detergent.
anyways, i can't take a benedryl in the day time b/c i will fall asleep.
so i am just using creams....

i didnt take a picture, but it was little red bumps all over my whole entire body, but in sections..
there was a section on my abd, one on my right forearm, one on my left forearm, one on my right shoulder, on my r and l legs...
and don't worry, my butt itches too....

suck.
