homemade sugar scrub

i decided it would be wayyyyy cheaper to make my own body scrub...

so i did.

all you realllllllly need is:

sugar

some form of oil, i used grapeseed

-

you could add some essential oils

(i used jasmine)

-

here are 5 different recipes

but i just got an old bath salt container

and filled it with suger

then added the oil until it was dampish

then added several drops of jasmine essential oil

i used it in the bath last night

and it worked wonders

i think it's better than the store-bought kind

-

and it really exfoliated!!!

i actually saw 2.
i am so pumped, hopefully i can make some salsa when momma gets here

homemade veggie bags

supplies: tulle, cording/flat tape, toggle

directions:

1. cut tulle into whatever size you wanted (i eyeballed it)

2. sew up 3 sides (leaving top open)

3. fold over top to make room for cord

4. cut a slit in the fold, so you can run the cord into the seam

5. sew the fold

6. put cording thru fold

6. pull cord thru toggle

7. tie cord distal to toggle so it doesnt fray

i only bought 2 toggles, so i did 2 bags without, and it will work just fine, i just hemmed the cord so it didn't fray at the ends. the cording i bought was kind of like the ties to scrub bottoms. i got it in the ribbon section for .79/yard. i got the tulle in 3 different colors for $1.29/yard. i bought 2/3 yard of each color,and it makes 6 bags total for the size.

now i can reuse the veggie bags and not use plastic!

we took shiner back to his house last night.

but sunday night i came home and saw this.

he was holding the bottle & chipmunk.... so cute.

i'm all for going green, but this is taking it a little far...

anyways, they have like 300 colors, it was so hard to choose.

he is like 8 mo old. i think he is driving schnooze bananas.

new makeup

i had to get new makeup recently, b/c i use bare minerals and it was making my face get all splotchy. sooooo i checked out this organic awesome makeup called Afterglow. It's awesome. I've only worn it 2x and i love it so much. Anyway check out their site.

Friday evening Cameron and I went out to eat.

I decided to get a coffee drink while I was running errands earlier in the day.

Usually Schnooze doesn't eat anything we leave around.

But when we got home, this is was we saw.

The empty cup completely empty

(it was about 1/4 full of ice and a vanilla latte)

the lid chewed and strewn to the side

and the straw.

we were laughing to hard and couldn't punish her at all.

the worst/most hilarious part is

that she was buzzing on her coffee high.

Seriously she was running around the house like

a mad woman.

Now, below, I am not trying to model by any means,
but i was excited about my purchase,
and wanted everyone to see it.
But it doesn't look the same just laying on my bed
not being worn. So, check out the bathing suit.
Also i was pumped b/c my butt does not hang
out of this one, unlike every other suit i have tried on.
Also, the hands on the hips are pulling back my love handles :)

Gardening time.

It was hot the other day, and I felt like snazzing up the balcony.

So, i got 2 tomato plants, a sweet pepper plant,

some mint, lavander, basil, and sage.

They smell good, and look pretty.

2 hours ago it was blizzarding. So twice since

i have gotten the plants i have had to bring them inside :(.

I am determined to get some awesome fruit!

Dad have me this plant about 6-7 yrs ago.

i think you are supposed to re-pot plants every year

or something like that, but i never have.

But this one was looking sad.

it's been through a lot, college, lots of moves,

heat waves where we thought it was a goner, and more.

So anyways little planty, I hope you like your new home.

(his sister who normally lives in OKC, but pretty much moved her life here to take care of wes)
and she said he was eatng a lot, and had a better attitude.
A few days ago he was requesting all seasons of some show, and that is a HUGE improvement.
Anyways, I think I was stop by Garfield Street and visit him Thursday.

On a sad note, friday was a tough day at work for me.
I haven't really really had one of my patients die in a Code situation, they are usually DNR's.
And when I was on my last day of orientation in CCU (in october) I had my first,
but i didn't really count it b/c I was on orientation.
Friday I had my first (she was a limited DNR, but the only thing she didn't want was
chest compressions).
Anyway, it was super sucky. Boo.
It made me think like my dear friend Susanne, I may open my own coffee shop
instead of being a nurse.

Someone put a note on our car that said she was trying to move a rock out of the way of our tire so it wouldn't pop, and she threw it and crazked our sideview mirror. what in the heck. how does that happen? how fraeking hard do you throw a rock out of that way. anyways, long story short, she wrote that she has no money, but will do what she can. oh dear.

GREEN DAY (not the band).
I will list things like Lo, b/c I too like lists.
Things I do to stay Green:
~bring reusable bags to all stores/don't take a bag if not needed (king soopers and whole foods
gives you money back for each bag)
~recycle EVERYTHING, even take it out of other people's trash to recycle
~drive old ghetto cars to get good gas-milage
~ride our bikes when possible
~bring reusable cups/mugs/bottles everywhere i can
~buy local
~buy organic
~buy fresh
~buy bamboo (renewable resource)
~never use heat/cool unless i am about to die
~def don't shower everyday... who does that?
~live close to work/school for less commuting
~grow own herbs/veggies
~shut off water when brushing teeth
~cam doesn't shave so we save water that way
~use hardle any lights b/c our apt just doesn't have them (one in kitchen and one in bathroom)
~ un-plug stuff that is not in use (toaster/stereo/fans/computer...)
~someday will use cloth diapers (when i have a kid)
~re-use glasses at home (and not wash them til they are gross)
~re-use as much paper as possible before recycling it
okay just face it I AM GREEN

pray for cameron, not only are the next 4 weeks gonna be terror,
but he just found out that the next 2 will be the worst of his 2 years at denver seminary.
Just getting things finished and turned in and studied for and researched.
it sucks, on top of having ADHD and being super sleep deprived and not ever hearing his 3 alarms to wake up. Just pray for his sanity (and mine :)).
I asked him what I could do for him, and I said OH I KNOW
Liz:"i will stop taking to you for the next 2 weeks"
Cam "Or i will just get a hotel for the next 2 weeks and just shoot you an email every few days to catch up with you"
Liz :that just might work :)"
Plus it's like 70 degrees here and all he wants to do is MTB.

(it's the cutest laugh that you ever did hear)

3. he is so funny when he gets on a kick about something and WILL NOT stop talking about it

ie: mountain bike parts, his palm pilot, this program where you can type/ download a paper

onto it and it speaks it for you, nutritional things, garlic, cayenne pepper pills, moutain

biking, snow shoeing, shorts, hating snow.......... and the list goes on and on

4. he uses about 50,000 post its a day

5. he uses about 5-10 glasses a day

6. he is a really good cook (bananas fosters is a specialty)

7. he loves coffee but cant drink it past about noonish, b/c he can't sleep

8. he love japanese animation cartoons...

9. he does not know where i hid his oscar meyer weiner pj pants... muhahahaha

10. he says schnooze is his #1 bff

11. he will have his bachelors, masters, and doctorite all before he turns 30... geesh

hello all!

Cold as Crap!!!!

I didn't take any pics, but friday-sunday it snowed and we got about 4 inches or so.

Thank goodness the mountains got some, or nobody would ever get to ski.

So: apparently it's crazy iced over in Okla and most people didn't have school!

Sus said some people didn't have power :(.

Today I : mailed Lane & Jess's Present!

took the recycling to the 'brary

went to the bank

got some more kombucha tea that i am obsessed with, sus told me it gets addicting

went to the grocery (brought my own paper sacks too) and got lots of good stuff

made 2 kinds of doggie treats for my baby (she likes them) (one kind required 3 jars of chicken baby food,

and the other kind req 1 can of pumpkin???)

made 2 kinds of cookies (choc no bake & oatmeal/walnut/cran-orange)

finished jenny mcarthy's book on her son with autism (it's good read it!)

am gonna make dinner for cam (he's in his finals week!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I feel like a hippy dippy now, and I think it's b/c i have to try and convince all my friends they should recycle. and also since reading that jenny mcarthy book, i dont want my kids to get vaccines. and b/c i though about it and lauren taught me, i now want to use cloth diapers. and my friend kimiko used cloth wipes, so i wanna do that too, b/c it makes more sense (just get some kinda cloth don't know what kind... and put it in a tupperware with soap, water, and baby oil or something like that and then throw then in the same bin you throw your cloth diapers into....wash them the same). But i am going all organic and wanting to just be so green. and i know it's not a bad thing, but i just never thought i would be so darn hippish. For goodness sakes... it's my sister that's the hippy. (no offence sus)

1. I have sent all my christmas gifts out besides one
2. all the presents are wrapped and under the tree
3. i got my hair cut today and it's cute
4. i spent some bday money at whole foods and got:
-alba skin care items
-choc. truffles
- cinn/sugar chips with sweet sip
- a free 5 min massage
- kambucha tea: guava (best kind so far)
- tomato basil soup that was so good
- cameron's fav grind in the store honey nut peanut butter (for him)
5. I spent more bday money at bbw:
- hand soap for bathroom
- foot and hand cream (hardcore softening)
6. and some more getting 2 candles at yankee candle store
7. i finished knitting a scarf in cute yarn
8. i am obsessed with america's next top model
9. tonight is a new House
10. at whole foods i saw the diapers Lo was talking about that have an outer part, and there is a special inner part you can flush/toss/put in compost... and it only takes 50-150 days to decompose (plastic diapers take at least 500 years.... boo): it was $24 for the starter pack of 2 diapers and 5-10 liners... and the 40 pack liner set was $15... not bad for less poo clean up)
Makes me wanna use those?!?!??!?!?
11. it's 65 degrees here?!?!?!
12. I am getting a dove holding an olive branch tattood on my left foot the 15th!!! My friend Shellie is coming and she designed a cross for her inner arm!
