My husband is so smart!!!

Cameron told me yesterdaythat he got his grades back...while his face was beaming! Let me first tell you what the grading scale is 93-100 is an A. He made all A's (5) and (1) B-!!!!!! Totalling 15 hours of Graduate school! Aren't you so proud of him! Way to go Cameron!
He also has today, tomorrow, and Friday left of his intersession class!!!!

Thyroid business suckaaaaaas

So, first off let me say that I AM FINE! Here is a little story about a thyroid. I went to the doctor for a check-up. She felt my thyroid and said it felt a little big. She wanted me to get some blood work done (TSH and T4) and get an ultrasound of my thyroid. So, the next day I was able to get the ultrasound, and the U/S tech said I DID NOT have a goiter, but it didn’t look smooth (which it’s supposed to). Anyway, that was Thursday, and the tech said their radiologist would read the report that day and have it faxed to my dr’s office by Friday afternoon. Of course I worked Friday, and was worried all day long about having cancer or something else??? So, my good old friend at the hospital said… well why don’t you just call the Dr’s office and have them call you at work!! GREAT IDEA! Now, why didn’t I think of that? Anyway, they said Dr. Barton would call around 5:00-5:30pm. So I am of course awaiting the call the whole time. She calls and says I have a multi-nodular thyroid and my TSH was a little on the high side (which really means I have hypothyroidism… seems weird I know) (my lab was 6.something… normal is 0.4-4). She said I need to see an endocrinologist. So I made an appt but I can’t get in until the 30th…boo. Anyway, a multi-nodular thyroid means some areas are working overtime, and some aren’t working at all. Which promotes a GOITER…AHHHH! So really at anytime a goiter could pop up. Susanne said she would put little bows on it and dress it up, Angie said we could paint it in themes…like a pumpkin, an Easter egg, a witch’s wart… whatever. Anyway, I should be okay, unless a goiter pops up and closes my trachea shut. But I think I would notice not being able to breath.

On another note… I had my interview a week ago on Wednesday, and well… it went fine, but I didn’t get that feeling about the hospital that I have with others. I just didn’t really like it. It’s 11 miles away (Swedish is 2), it’s under a lot of construction, if there was another snow disaster I would have to stay the night there b/c my house is too far away, and the big kicker, I’d end up having to pay $1000 just to transfer (my sign on bonus was $5000 at Swedish, if I get $7000 from new job taxed, it’s only $4000 that I actually receive… so in turn before I get my tax return I have to pay $1000 to Swedish…. So that was a big kicker). It kind of sucks a lot, b/c I want to work on a cardiac floor so badly and I feel like I am losing a lot of knowledge about the drugs and heart and whatnot. BUT… I think for the time being, even though I will have to start wearing a uniform soon, I will stay at Swedish but keep my options open. I technically have to endure 13 more months…BOO…but I do have a few really good friends there.

On a much cooler happier note… my friend Emily invited me to go on this thing called a snowshoeing hut to hut trip. You basically strap on some snow shoes and trek for a while and end up at a hut (it’s all furnished with beds, mattresses, and a stove, and bathroom), we just have to bring a sleeping bag, food, and clothes!!! Super cool huh? I am pumped! It’s at the end of March… so cool!!!!

And, of course for the 4th snow storm on Dec/Jan… I will be at work AGAIN. The third one, they did not call a disaster, and this one they shouldn’t either. They are saying the snow will start Thursday afternoon, snow Friday, and Saturday, about 3-4” everyday MAX! So we should be in business. Susanne and Mike are supposed to come in they don’t get snowed out! I can’t wait to see little Sophie-bee!

More snow...again

Well, let me just say, it has been a wild ride! I worked Christmas day, and it really wasn't that bad. I worked with some great people, and ate some great food (and lots of it). Meanwhile at the house.... Cameron and Steve were having manly McXmas. They didn't wake up until late b/c they had sledded in the middle of the night, played Xbox, and other boyish things. Christmas day they did more of the same. When I got home, they had planned a terrific dinner for me. Duck, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, etc. It was yummy! The next day Cam and I ran errands and saw a movie! I had to go back to work on the 28th (thursday)... and wouldn't you be so happy to know that I got stuck in the Snow Disaster Plan AGAIN>>>AHHH. But, it wasn't as bad as last time, and the snow wasn't coming down as hard. I convinced the boss to let me drive home b/c we have chains and we only live 2 miles away. I basically had to sign in blood that I would return Friday. Which I did without problem. The system ended up working me.... long story, but i worked several hours on friday, was able to go home, but had to come back for saturday and sunday. Anyway, it was crazy, and I was so glad to come home to a SUPER CLEAN house (by cam) on Sunday night. We had lots of people over for new years eve, and used the balcony with snow still piled high on it as our ice chest!!!! We ate, drank, and were very merry!!!! I slept in until 11:00... a record for me since highschool i think!!! The snow is still really deep, but all roads are completely clear except apt complexes and things like that. Today is a great day, Cameron started school again (not so great, but it puts him in a routine), i got all the paperwork and finances in order, i finally got a dr's appt (just a checkup), and i FINALLY got the courage up to make an appt for a haircut... it is at 4pm today!!! Tomorrow we will finally get our car registered in CO and get CO plates, and at 2pm I have an interview at St. Joseph's hospital, Cardiac Unit!!!! I also have today, tomorrow, and Thursday off of work, so I am pumped!!!! It has been super cold outside, and I don't think the snow will ever melt. I love the snow, but am getting a little tired of every patient I have having a broken hip/leg/head from falling on the snow/ice. I am sorry I didn't blog sooner, but well, you know...? Hopefully Progressive will call us soon saying they spoke to the drunk driver who hit me, and I will be able to get the car fixed up shiny and new!!!!! Until then.... here are some snow pics!

SO MUCH SNOW!

So, wednesday it started to snow, Cam got me to work fine though. There was crazy talk about having to go into Snow Disaster Mode, but I thought nahhh. Anyway, minute by minute the snow got worse and worse. They put us in Snow Disaster Mode, which means, you are not allowed to elave the hospital until we are out of the SDM. So.... I got to spend 36 straight hours at the hospital. Lucky enough for me, Cam was able to get me some clothes and stuff at 2pm so I could change. And I was also lucky that the night shift was able to get there, so I could sleep. It wasn't a great sleep, but at least I got some. I worked all day Thursday (I was scheduled anyway), but some people had to stay at work even though there was enough staff, just sitting around, just in case night shift couldnt get there. It was NUTS... people were mad, angry, crying, upset, it was a disaster in itself. I decided that i would leave that night anyway, b/c this was too much. What were they going to do, fire me??? I already had an interview set up that next day at another hospital... SUCKAAAA! So, they ended up lifting the SDM at like 3ish. I called Cam to ahve him start digging the car out, it was completely covered. It took him and our neighbor 2 hours to get both the cars out. Luckily Cam had gotten snow chains the day before. It stopped snowing at 3, but total it snowed 32''. CRAZY!!!! I got to come home that night, and it was so nice to see my husband again! We almost got stuck a couple times, but we made it. Friday the interview got canceled and I will go sometime in the next few days (after christmas). Saturday we had our christmas!!! It was fun! Today we are having dinner at Matt & Emily's house. I made a homemade apple pie and pumpkin pie!!!! Yumm!! I have to work tomorrow and that is sad. But cam and steve are having a Manly Mc-Xmas Party all day long, including Xbox and Rum nog! Yeah for friends!

MVA = motor vehicle accident

So... this is my day.... go to the grocery store to get millions of things we are out of (plus some scruptous things for tortilla soup), unpack it all, eat some lunch (with pistacio nuts), go to the yarn store (spend lots of money), drive down the road busting out to Indigo Girls, stop at a light to turn left... HEAR A LOUD BOOM... oh wait.... I got rear-ended... by a drunk lady on drugs... awesome(who happens to think she is pregnant... (pregnant + drugs = awesome for fetus???)so she is taken to Swedish..on my floor). So, i cry a lot, am shaking, (it's also really cold), some man next to me says she almost ran him off the road and was driving all crazy and he thinks she's on something and i should call 911. So, I do this while she's looking for insurance. she comes to my car getting too close for comfort (i am getting that really uncomfortable feeling, like right before a patient gets combative), and at that moment, an officer comes. I get her info down (even though it was expired). The officer tells her he had three calls on her already and they had been looking for her. she proceeds to cuss out the officer and get crazy. they cuff her and put her in their car(and they tell me she has to go to jail). they were so nice and sweet (and then i remembered... my friend deb's husband is a cop in sheridan... i wonder if these guys know him). So, I ask one of the guys, and he says... no he's right over there (with crazy girl). Small world!!! They took care of me!!! Anyway, they had to wait for a lady cop to come so she could pat down the crazy girl. I have to wait awhile, but it wasn't so bad. My bumper was pretty gross and parts of it were broken off, but it was okay. and i was okay. Anyway I get home and after all the hubbub of calling both insurance people, her's calls back and.... SHE HAS INSURANCE!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!! I was so worried! Anyway, all this time, Cameron was climbing Mt. Bierstadt in snowshoes with some friends! So, my plan was to make them all my mom's famous tortilla soup... but that didnt happen right away. Cameron came home with a dozen roses in hand, and lots of hugs!! I ended up getting the soup made for the other 5 people, and they loved it! So, during all this craziness.... last week or so i had applied at another hospital, and they called in the midst and set up an interview for Friday (the day i get to see the Phelps!)...but that is good! Anyway I praise the Lord she hit me and not anyone else b/c she oculd have killed someone, and praise the Lord I wasnt hurt, the car wasnt bad or anything. We have an appt after christmas to get the car fixed and to have a rental car during this time. So things are good!
1. Cam said it was cold and snowy and crazy, and i will post pics later of his excursion!!!
2. Sus is sick with an upper respiratory infection... she sounded so bad, it made me want to drive her some tortilla soup!
3. The tree is filled with presents from our awesome family.
4. Steve is spending christmas with us
5. Cam and Steve have plans for Christmas day (while i work) and all of them involve egg nog and rum!
6. it's supposed to snow soon
7. I love mail and christmas cards
8. I also love posts... post baby!

Christmas parties!

Last night I went to a Christmas party! It was at Heidi's house and was oh so much fun! I bakesd some sugar cookies and made them all Christmasy, and also dipped those long pretzles into white chocolate and then sprinkled them with sprinkles... super cute. There were 8 girls there, and a baby boy 4 months old! Anyway, it was just nice to be around girls for a change (nice ones anyway).

On another note, I talked to Susanne yesterday, and I could hear Sophie in the background, and her noises were super cute (until she cried). But Sus said her cord fell off last week and they can give her baths in her cute little bathtub thingy now! There are new pics on her blog... go see!

And for the kicker.... I still strongly dislike my job, and it makes me mad everytime I have to go (which thank goodness is only 3 times a week). But I applied at another hospital in Denver, and it is 11 miles away. But they have a brand new cardiac unit, and I LOVE CARDIAC PATIENTS!!! I also love old people, and I don't get many of those around the multi-trauma unit... boo. Another big crazy thing is this hospital is going to uniforms. They chose not to listen to our emails about our reasons why this isn't a good idea, and they totally disregarded our petitions. Anyway, we can choose from wine or carribean blue. YUCK! That goes into effect in Feb, so I hope I can get this new job and be out before then. I love my cute fun colorful scrubs!!!

Cameron is in the midst of studying for finals... 3 more left after today!!! He had to turn a big part of his Thesis in today, but that is a good thing! And after all his crazy finals, if the weather is good, he will climb Mt. Bierstadt in snowshoes with his counseling friends. He is crazy, but adventurous!!!

We have just been getting ready for Christmas and a lot of crazy things get in the way... but we are trekking along.

Shout out to Gabs... Congrats on your graduation miss Masters!! Now we can call you Master Gabriele!!!

Have a good day people, I love you!! PS to the Phelps clan... we are probably gonna see you the saturday before christmas if that is okay!!!!

working out...

So, this is bad when you haven't worked out in so long that you go to put your tennies shoes on and they don't fit anymore. Well that was me this morning. First off I have to say my feet haven't grown since 7th grade. Second I have to say I think they are growing. Third of all, I really did work out like a couple months ago :). Okay, so a few days ago I realized that I am super out of shape (it was while I was trying to truck through the snow to take Schnooze out) and just gross. So I decide after working monday and tuesday I will get up early and take Cameron to school then I can have the car to go work out. I think in my head I will run 3 miles and it will be awesome. The minute I get up and get dressed to drive him, I realize my shoes are super dang tight.... and they hurt?!?!?!? So, after I come back, brush my teeth, and take dog out, I go to Kohl's and buy a brand spanking new pair of Nike's (they are cute... light blue and green on white and gray). I put them on in the car and go to the Y. I decide my knee hurts too bad to run on the treadmill, so i Elliptical it for 3 miles. Go me!!! I watched 2 episodes of scrubs on my ipod and that made it go faster... even though it did take me 46 minutes. I wasn't training or anything. Anyway I felt so good that I even did some weights. THEN... i came home and i am making 2 corndogs... don't tell anybody :). My plans today are to: help my friend heidi (isnt it cool i have a friend named heidi???) finish her scarf (and she might make me lunch too!!), then wrap some more presents and hopefully take them to the post office, and knit someone's scarf i am working on (even though she knows who she is and is related to me :)). Cam wants to take this free avalanche class in denver tonight at 7pm, but hello people it's the season finale of America's Next Top Model (i didn't get to watch any this season until sunday and it was a marathon of them). But we may still go to the class, b/c that's cool. I miss everyone! Shout out to Deaconess!!! Love you!

mas el snowo

okay, it's been several hours since i last posted, but the amount of snow has doubled. schnooze and i trekked out, and it was above her belly, and poor little thing had snow balls all stuck to her belly, butt, and legs. she was so cute. at one point i was scared she might get frost bite and i carried her back inside ;). anyway, super cold, super snowy, super pretty (snow hides all those dead things (not dead people, but dead grass and stuff)). CRAZY SNOW! oh ps, cameron posted this note on the cabinet, and left this for me: see pics above!

Let it snow!

Okay, so when the high says 17 degrees, that makes you wonder if you will get outside. But when you see the crazy amount of snow, you totally want to! I think there's like 4 inches, and it's still falling (although you can't tell in the pics). It started snowing yesterday at like 3pm, and kept getting colder and colder! Anyway, cam and i decided to hurry up and get our tree just as it was snowing yesterday, so we didnt have to get it in the 17 degree cold today. and i decorated it last night, and it looks so cute and smells sooooooooo good (like christmas)!
I made those staockings last year (Schnooze's name wouldn't fit on there, so i wrote Dog :)).

pretty

This is a pic from our balcony, so pretty! But basically I thought my life couldn't get any worse (from things going on lately).... oh don't worry, i went to pee this morning, and i flushed, and the toilet overflowed so much that there was like 1 inch of water on our bathroom, and I had to use every towel we had (nice ones included) to sop up the water. Cameron won't answer his phone, so I don't know what to do. And now I have to go to the br AGAIN!!!! AHHHH.

You have never seen anything more hilarious

Okay, so Cameron and I were down in the dumps and we decided to do something about it. So, let me take you back a couple weeks to Target. I was looking through the dollar bin, which I highly reccomend, and I found exactly what i had been looking for. dun dun dun.... a reindeer costume for Schnooze!!!!!! it even had little booties! so fast forward a couple weeks. Cameron and I remember trying to dress her up like santa last year, but the costume was too small (loose some weight dog), but it was hilarious! So we put the whole outfit on including the booties! She didn't want to walk on them and kept picking up her feet, it was pretty much the funniest thing ever!!! She was so cute!

crazy ahhhh

I know I am a bad blogger. I have been really super busy. I got home from the wedding, worked wednesday, off thursday, worked friday (was supposed to work fr-mon), left at 4:00 b/c I got sick (will talk about that in a min), called in sick sat, worked sunday and monday, off tuesday, worked wednesday, had a class thursday!!!! So the sickness... I got sick the last day in OK, kinda felt a little better, but not a while lot. When I woke up Friday morning I felt like crap, but knew I had to work to make us some money. I felt all headachey, super super nauseated (like i was going to have to actually throw up at work) and druggy feeling. so finally they let me go home at 4pm (woo hoo). But i got nervous that all those symptoms could be because I was pregnant.... thank the Good Lord, I am NOT pregnant! anyway I recovered on the couch that next day and felt pretty good sunday and greta monday. So I think it was some kinda flu. I didn't get a flu shot til monday. Anyway... Thursday after my class I got Schnooze's hair cut and bought her a cute aqua colored sweater :). I also went to target! I love target! AND AND AND.... my friend Susanne is due to have THE BABY in 6 days... HOLY COW!!! What is she gonna do with a baby????? YEAH BABIES!!!! Thursday afternoon I went to Heidi's house to teach her how to knit... I don't think I am a great teacher b/c I don't know correct terms and I am saying things like : pull that thing over that deal, and make that stitch come off the end of that thingy and don't get 2 pieces of string b/c that could make you add a stitch and make your scarf ugly. Thank goodness Heidi is a smart cookie, she had like 4 inches done by the time we left. After knitting Heidi and her hubby Josh, cam, and I went to get chinese and we ate at our house while our dogs played!!!! I do have to say that i am super excited for tonight though... wanna know why? We are re-celebrating my birthday!!!! Since cam and I didn't get alone time on my bday... we are doing it tonight! He started the day off by calling me to tell me happy birthday! Then later tonight we are eating at the fabulously acclaimed: Melting Pot! I can't wait b/c I have only heard amazing things!!! Also it is 3 more days until my sister's 22nd bday... geesh she's gonna be old! And I get to see her in 12 days!!!! Sorry sus, you have to wait on your bday present! That is all for today!
The pic is of The Angel Oak tree in south carolina, you'd have to look up the stats on it, but it's really old and really big. Cam and I got to go the Kim and Derek's beach house over spring break last year... they are pretty great uncles!!!!

I woke up that Friday morning (oct 27th) at dad's house in edmond. It was rather chilly (since it was 75 the day before). Mom and I ran errands all day. I got to eat lunch with my friend Genesis at Jason's Deli and it brought back good ol' memories with that darned good strawberry shortcake!!! I got to hang with Lo and Gabs too. Later I went to pick up cam from the airport!!! We headed on over to Chelino's in bricktown and I had a huge bday crowd with me!!! Matt, Laura, Andy, Chris, Emily, Blake, Mom, David, Lauren, and Brad (and of course me and Cam)!!! I had a grand old time and we had some yummy mexican food!!!!! We are dumb and didnt take any more pics. Those earrings I am wearing i got as a gift from Maggie! Yeah for bdays Boo for being old.

Sus and Chris Kramer 10.29.06

My little baby sister got married on sunday. It was in my grandma's backyard (on 5 acres). It was gorgeous and sunny and beautiful. There was hardly any wind, and the leaves were changing and falling and it was perfect. We couldn't have asked for anything better. She was a beautiful blushing bride. She made her dress from part of my mom's dress when she married my dad. She added a little pink satin ribbon to it and was barefoot :). Chris wore a brown siut with a pinkisk tie and was also barefoot. The colors were pink and brown and the flowers were daisies. There were 4 round tables at the reception which had vintage tablecloths on them and old vases/bottles with dasies and greenery from the yard. The cousins (well really Polly and some Lo) made the gorgeous kahlua cake with chocolate cream cheese icing, decorated with fresh dasies. Sus's friend from Lawerence (also a hair stylist) did her hair and make up. Mom and David did the reception food. Chris made the playlists and had his computer with some powereful speakers out in the back. Sus and dad danced to brown eyed girl by van morrison. It was just perfect. Christiane caught the bouquet and Stephen caught the garter!!!!! The drove off into the sunset in sus's car straight to the Arcadian Inn (a b&b in edmond). The later told me they ordered deep fork grill b/c they were starving. Polly made them a miniature kahlua cake with a bride and groom on top!!! Sus and I talked Monday and she and chris made it to NYC and they were about to take the subway to their b&b in harlem!!!! Yeah for marriage. 5 cousins down....2 to go!!!!!

ahhh!

First off.... my big toe on my right foot... the toenail is falling off. it's only the left side, so for right now it's pretty secure. I thought I had a little to worry about, until today. I looked down, and dang it if my middle toe on my left foot... the toenail was just hanging off like it was chilling. what else was I to do but trim the whole sucker off. Part of it is still there, like a cm or something dumb like that. But I have never had a nail fall off, b/c apparently I took care of my nails... until i moved to CO???? But I look like a homeless person (like Audra when she used to wear socks with holes to work like me and genesis... sus did you do that too?). All my dang nails are falling off. So... being the smart nursey i am... I started taking prenatal vitamins. No growth yet, and it's been like 2 weeks. Geesh vitamin company. Did you know there was this shiney part under you toenail that is kinda hard? well there is. Wanna see? You cant really tell in the pic, it just looks like my polish is coming off, but I assure you, it's my nail falling off. Gross. The other pic is how snowy it was a frew days ago. That snow all melted the next day, but then when I woke up this morning it was CRAZY snowy, and of course, it has all melted too. BOO. 8 more days until sus's wedding, 6 more days til my birthday, and 5 more days til i leave for the SOONER STATE!

SNOW!!!!

It's snowing here and has been all day (well since about 1200). I am pumped, and it looks so pretty. I just hope the roads don't freeze over. I couldn't find a pic of how pretty it is on the internet and was too lazy to take one. After I went to grocery shop at Target (and after I got a carmal apple cider from satrbucks) I sat on the couch and knitted all day. Sorry to say dad that I got bored making the scarf and switched to cameron's hat, but I am done now, and will switch back to the scarf!!!! It was wonderful being inside watching all the snow today, but it makes me scared to see what work will be like tomorrow (being on the trauma unit and all). PS... Julie Malecek will be here in 2 days! And it's 10 days til my birthday!

scarf making

I am knitting a scarf, unlike Meredith on Grey's Anatomy, I don't need it to keep me occupied from boys. I am doing it for the sheer satisfaction of a job well done. Also, you can give them as gifts to people!!! So, I started by making a trial one, i guess for me, in case it was really bad, i would wear it. It turned out pretty well. Now, I am on scarf #2, it's for tha cambomb. He wanted brown and green stripes, and he picked out the yarn too!!!! His is over 50% completed. Next will be my dad's. Hopefully I can just give him his over Thanksgiving. There is a long list of people so far who want one, which makes me very excited that people think I can make something good enough for them to wear!!! I forgot to say that I tried knitting once last chirstmas time, and all i could do was make triangles... for those of you who knit you understand! Anyway, i decided i needed to try it again, so I started the week cam's parents came out. And low and behold, I got Lea Ann (cam's mom) hooked too! She was already on her 2nd ball of yarn before I got home from work one day! Go Lea Ann!!! So, here are some pics of the scarves. Cam's is still a work in progress and there are a lot of strings hanging down that i will put into place before i am finished (don't worry).

Also on a side note. I went to dessert at Darci's house last night and met with the other girls from seminary (rachel and heidi). They are awesome and I had a great time. yeah for girls!!!!

mom & david

So, they got married September 6, 2006. How cute are they. I think they are the same person. Wearing the same shoes, socks, shorts, key chains in their pockets, almost the same shirts too :), and they both have short hair and glasses :). How cute, 2 peas in a pod. This pic was taken by the pastor that married them in Lake Tahoe in the little chapel. CUTE! Cheers to mom and david!

Coors Brewery Tour

Let me just tell you how awesome the Coors Tour was! Cameron's family was in town (Mima, David, Lea Ann, Blake, and Alec), and we decided this was something we really needed to do.... which brought us there! Not only was it really interesting, but you got 3 free 8 oz beers, and a 4oz taster on the tour! Did you know Coors cold filters it's beer, so you are actually not supposed to leave it unrefridgerated, b/c that makes it lose it's taste. That also means there aren't any nasty preservatives in it, unlike other beers. Coors also makes Kilians and Blue Moon. Which I tried and from the brewery they taste amazing! So, when you come to visit, this is where we'll go!

10K october 1, 2006

Cameron, Steve, and Jackie decided it was a great idea to run a 10K. Thye got to run through (and on the field) of Mile High Staduim, the baseball field, and the ice rink!!! Cameron's time was 58m and 35 sec!!!! I was so proud of him! steve came in at 60 min, and jackie came in at 62 min! The cause was for disabled athletes. It was really fun. I stood at the finish line and cheered everyone on, which was actually really exilerating! Go runners!
